8 Injured After Whale Watch Boat Hits Rough Seas Off Plymouth

PLYMOUTH (CBS) – Eight people were injured after a whale watch boat ran into rough seas off Plymouth Wednesday night.

A group from New York was on the Captain John and Son II when a large wave crashed over the boat.

Seven passengers and a crew-member were injured and taken to the hospital with sea sickness and ankle injuries.

Several other passengers were treated on the boat.

There were 112 people onboard, and most of them were teenagers. On the way back the boat dealt with waves up to eight feet high and winds up to 30 knots. The captain told the harbormaster they hit a rogue wave.

Many of the teens had never been out on the ocean before.

The injuries are described as minor.
