Kraft And Goodell Have Reportedly Spoken, Hugged Ahead Of Spring Meetings
BOSTON (CBS) -- Two grown men have reportedly spoken, and even hugged it out following a conversation.
This is where we are on Day 121 of the Deflategate saga.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and Patriots owner Roger Kraft already met ahead of the NFL Spring Meetings in San Francisco. The two had a nice chat and even hugged, despite all that has gone on with the Deflategate controversy (there's no word if there was a kiss on the cheek from Kraft).
As silly as the report may seem, it actually paints a much more positive picture as the two sides look to end what has turned into a rather messy situation. The news of Kraft and Goodell's pleasant interactions follow Schefter's report on Monday evening that the Patriots and NFL are having "back channel conversations" to see if the two sides can strike a deal to avoid an appeal hearing for their penalties.
The NFL suspended Patriots quarterback Tom Brady for four games, and fined the team $1 million and docked them a first- and fourth-round draft pick following the release of the Wells Report. Brady has appealed the suspension, and the Patriots have been very critical of the league's suspension and Wells' report over the last week.
The NFL's spring meetings begin Tuesday afternoon (roughly 4pm eastern time) in San Francisco and run through Wednesday.
