Missing Boston College Student Found Safe In New York

BROOKLINE (CBS) – A missing Boston College student has been found safe at his home in New York.

Brookline police said members of the NYPD found at about 11 p.m. that Stephen Ziska had returned to his New York house in what they described as "good health."

Family members in New York came to the home to stay with Ziska until other relatives could return home from Boston to be with him after making the trip Massachusetts to search earlier this week.

Prior to returning home, Ziska had not been seen since May 11 at 11:30 a.m. when he never showed up for an exam he was scheduled to take.

A Boston College spokesman had said it was uncharacteristic for Ziska to not check in with friends or family, though police did not suspect foul play when he went missing.

"We wish to thank everyone who helped in our missing person investigation," Brookline police said. "Glad he is safe."

Boston College issued a statement on Saturday morning about Ziska's safe return home.

"Our prayers for his safe return have been answered. We extend our thanks to members of the BC community who posted signs throughout the area, to the media for helping to spread the word, and to Brookline Police for their assistance with the search," said the school.
