Daily Talker: Pay To Perform?

There is a battle brewing at Boston's famed Faneuil Hall.  The Boston Globe reports that street performers are being asked to pay to entertain the crowds.

The Globe reports that starting next month, performers will have to pay as much as $2,500 annually---a request that has outraged the entertainers and musicians who perform at one of the most popular tourist spots in the country.

Faneuil Hall Marketplace management tells the Globe the fees are needed to offset the cost of administration, promotion, and security.

Performers say they are not paid and rely on tips.  They say paying a fee would almost certainly force them out.

What do you think?

Should performers at Faneuil Hall have a pay a fee to entertain crowds?
