Officer Kevin MacDonald was parked on the side of the road conduction traffic enforcement when he was approached by a young girl and her mother on Sunday.

The girl handed MacDonald some flowers she had picked and thanked him for keeping her and her family safe.

After hearing about the girl's gift, Uxbridge Police Chief Jeffrey Lourie said was inspired.

He asked others in town to deliver a flower to the Uxbridge Police Department as well.

Lourie said that for every flower delivered to the department, he will personally make a donation to the Uxbridge Senior Center in the donor's name.

He added with a smile "dandelions accepted."
