Revere Police Warn Parents About Teen Vanishing 'Game'

REVERE (CBS) -- Local police are sharing a warning for parents of teenagers about a dangerous game making the rounds on social media.

In a Facebook post on Friday, Revere police said they want to spread awareness about something called the "Game of 72."

"Originating in France teens are sending private messages to each other via Social Media, challenging them to disappear without any contact to anyone for 72 hours," police wrote.

The Facebook status has been shared about 1,000 times since it was posted Friday morning.

However, it's still unclear how much of a problem this is in Europe.

One media outlet in France says authorities are struggling to find actual examples of teens playing the game online, and have only noticed the frantic warnings from parents.
