Wednesday's Child: 12-Year-Old Nicole

BOSTON (CBS) – Nicole is a sweet 12-year-old Caucasian girl who is imaginative and artistic. She enjoys arts and crafts as well as playing make-believe. Nicole is also skilled at writing her own songs and wants to be a singer when she grows up. She is doing well in her current foster home and enjoys the one-to-one attention that her foster mother is able to give her.

Nicole is a special education student and does not work at grade level. She has an Individual Education Plan for intellectual disabilities that impacts her learning. She can get anxious when taking tests and needs extra support to help her in this area. She would benefit from good supervision and emotional support when she feels overwhelmed. Nicole acts much younger than her age and enjoys playing with younger children. She can struggle with peers her own age and could benefit from learning better boundaries and age-appropriate skills.

Nicole is legally freed for adoption and is excited to be adopted. She has an older brother that has been adopted already with whom she will need to maintain monthly contact. A loving and patient family consisting of a mom and dad, two moms or a single mom would be a great match for Nicole. She needs to have a family who will advocate for her and support her educational goals. Nicole is a lovely girl who desires to have a forever family.

To learn more about Nicole, and about adoption from foster care, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) at 617-54-ADOPT (617-542-3678) or visit www.MAREinc.org. The sooner you call, the sooner a waiting child will have "a permanent place to call HOME."
