Nipmuc Regional High School Student Accused Of Making Hit List

UPTON (CBS) – Police are investigating a Nipmuc Regional High School student who allegedly made a hit list containing the names of 60 other students school officials say he wanted to harm.

Residents of Upton and Mendon are very concerned.

"You don't know what the circumstances are whether they're 60 kids that he knows personally or he could have been bullied by somebody, it's just tragic nowadays," one parent said.

The school held a meeting for students on the list and their parents on Wednesday. They also notified all parents by email.

In a statement, Superintendent Joseph Maruszczak says, "We will continue to work closely with the Upton Police Department as they continue their investigation. The school administration takes this situation very seriously and accordingly, has removed the student from the school."

It's even upsetting for parents of kids who go to other schools.

Upton police say the 15-year-old student will face charges in juvenile court. Police say the boy's family is being cooperative.

Counseling will be available to students and parents if they need it.
