POLL: Should National League Adopt The Designated Hitter?

BOSTON (CBS) - On Tuesday morning, 98.5 The Sports Hub's Fred Toucher and Jon Wallach debated the national groundswell of support for the National League adopting the designated hitter, in light of Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright going down with an Achilles tear in the batter's box that will cost him the entire 2015 season.

Listen below:

Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer, who has spent the majority of his career in the American League with the DH, recently jammed his thumb while hitting and will miss a scheduled start because of it.

Scherzer came out in support for the NL adopting the DH, he said:

"If you look at it from the macro side, who'd people rather see hit: [David Ortiz] or me? Who would people rather see, a real hitter hitting home runs or a pitcher swinging a wet newspaper? Both leagues need to be on the same set of rules."

Even though instances of pitchers injuring themselves while batting are few and far between the debate rages on, and it gets particularly heated on both sides of the argument.

Fred Toucher grew up watching the NL and prefers that style of baseball because of the faster games and strategy involved. But what do you say?
