Passenger Killed In I-495 Crash In Franklin

FRANKLIN (CBS) -- A crash in Franklin killed a woman and caused a traffic backup on Interstate 495 Sunday afternoon.

Massachusetts State Police said the single-car crash occurred on the southbound side at exit 17 at 12:18 p.m.. The 2014 Ford Fusion struck a guardrail, ripping it from the ground.

Two women were in the car at the time. The passenger, 31-year-old Ashley Hartung of Whitinsville died, according to police.

Her sister, 30-year-old Crystal Legassey of Oxford, was driving the car and was hospitalized with only minor injuries.

The right lane of the highway was closed, and a photo from police showed traffic delays in the area.

Police say no charges have been filed yet.
