Student Accused Of Attacking Weymouth Teacher Over Cell Phone

WEYMOUTH (CBS) – A student is accused of attacking a teacher at Weymouth High School over a cell phone.

A female teacher took a male student's phone away during ninth grade math class Tuesday morning. The freshman was apparently not pleased. At the end of class, he asked for his phone back. But the teacher did not want to give it back until the end of the school day.

Another student in the class, who didn't want her name used, witnessed the attack.

"He went up to her and asked for his phone back and she wasn't supposed to give it back until the end of the day, so she didn't give it back to him," the student said. "So basically what happened was he went on top of her and grabbed her."

"And she started screaming and yelling for help. I was scared stiff, I could not move. I was scared out of my mind."

"I ran out of the classroom and yelled 'she's being attacked.' By that time, other teachers and security came running into the room."

The teacher was not seriously hurt and was treated by the school nurse. The school resource officer removed the boy from the building.

The high school and Weymouth Police are investigating what happened.
