BOSTON (CBS) – The death penalty phase of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's trial is set to begin the day after this year's Boston Marathon.

Tsarnaev's defense team requested the penalty phase begin about two weeks after the conclusion of the first phase.

On Wednesday jurors found Tsarnaev guilty on 30 counts related to the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings.

The delay between the two portions of the trial was granted to "allow the defendant additional time to resolve outstanding logistical issues with a number of potential witnesses."
