Daily Talker: Ban On Ultra-Thin Models

This week, a bill cracking down on skinny models in France will go before a vote as authorities in that country try to crack down on the glorification of dangerously thin women.

The measure would only apply within France, but could have symbolic impact beyond, because of the country's outsized influence in setting style and image trends around the world.

The amendment forbids anyone with a body mass index below a certain level from earning money as a model. The level - based on height and weight - has not yet been defined.

Any modeling agency or person who pays a model below that index would face up to six months in prison and 75,000 euros (or about $82,000) in fines if convicted.

What do think about a new law that would ban ultra-thin models?
