Vigil Held For Quincy Father Killed In Unprovoked Attack

QUINCY (CBS) - More than a hundred family members and friends remembered Keith Boudreau at Quincy Square Friday.

The Quincy man and father of two died Friday, more than a week after prosecutors say he was viciously attacked at the Home Ice Sports Bar.

"Even on his worst day, he was nicer than most people," says family friend Terry Rooney.

"People on social media have reached out to me that I haven't talked to in 10 years. Everybody has a story and it's all good. As a mother, to hear that, it means the world to me," says Boudreau's mother, Kathy.

"I think the world lost a good guy. Not just us. He touched a lot of people's hearts," says friend Bill Ordway.

The 42-year-old was beaten unconscious March 23rd. Police say Paul Fahey, 42, attacked without reason.

"Completely unprovoked, this defendant went over to the victim, punched him in the face and then while the victim was lying on the ground, stomped on his head," says prosecutor Craig Kowalski.

Charges against Fahey will now be upgraded to murder.

"He was just a great dad. He cared. He really did. And it's just horrible, it's sad. I can't believe it's real," says Rooney.

Boudreau grew up in Dorchester and worked as a sheet metal worker.

"He was a beacon of light. He has been since the time he was a little boy. Any mother would be proud to have him as a son," says Kathy Boudreau.
