Milton Police Searching For Person Who Rigged Home With Incendiary Device

MILTON (CBS) - Milton police are still searching for the person who apparently rigged up an incendiary device in a house on Craig Street.

The home is a rental property, owned by Lindell Williams. Williams says he sold the home, and had to evict the tenants, who dragged their feet about moving, but they finally did on March 15.

On Tuesday, as Williams and an electrician were inspecting the house, they noticed something awry in an upstairs closet ceiling. It turned out to be a device, wired into the electrical system that would have started a huge fire.

Police say the device was a two gallon anti-freeze container with a wire and an unknown liquid inside.

Williams said, he was glad to be alive. "When I woke up this morning, I was saying thanks that nothing happened," he said.

His attorney says it appears that someone, maybe the tenants, poured concrete into the drains before they moved out and now this. Was Williams targeted? "The actions speak for themselves," said attorney Michael Van Dam.

Police have not named the former tenants, but say anyone who had access to the house in the past week are persons of interest.
