Sturbridge Police Say Wendy's Workers Helped Nab Drunk Driver

STURBRIDGE (CBS) – Sturbridge police are crediting some fast-food workers with helping them catch a drunk driver over the weekend.

Two officers were called to the Wendy's on Charlton Road around 12:45 a.m. Sunday because a suspected drunk driver had just pulled up to the drive-thru window.

Employees told police Zachery Berry, 23, of Wales, was "swearing, belligerent, and smelled of alcohol."

The workers then told Berry there was a problem with his order, and they would have it for him if he would wait a few minutes.

That gave police enough time to get to Wendy's to stop Berry.

He was arrested and taken to the police station, where officers say his blood alcohol level was 0.13.

Berry was charged with drunk driving and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

He will be arraigned Monday in Dudley District Court.
