Kelly Feeling Better, Next Start Uncertain

BOSTON (CBS) -- The Boston Red Sox received some good news on ailing pitcher Joe Kelly.

Kelly left his start on Monday after just 2.2 innings when he experienced a right biceps strain. But he felt better when reporting to the Red Sox' spring training facilities on Tuesday, and will not require any further tests.

"There's still a little bit of soreness there, but we're going to get his arm moving with a little light catch," Manager John Farrell said of Kelly. "He went through a full workup today. There's no imaging at this point recommended or required. What this means in terms of his next turn is yet to be determined."

Kelly is scheduled to pitch next on Sunday, but it's likely that start may be pushed back a day or two -- or potentially skipped all together.

In three spring starts for Boston, Kelly has allowed nine earned runs off 17 hits while striking out eight batters over 7.1 innings pitched.
