Elton John Calls For Dolce & Gabbana Boycott After Comments About His Children

By Shannon Carlin, Radio.com

Elton John would like us all to boycott designers Dolce & Gabbana after controversial comments they made about surrogacy to an Italian magazine.

The duo spoke with the fashion magazine Panorama (via Billboard) about traditional families saying they are those families with both a mother and a father. In the piece, the couple used the words "chemical offsprings" and "synthetic children" to describe in-vitro fertilization (IVF) babies.

"No chemical offsprings and rented uterus: life has a natural flow, there are things that should not be changed," they said.

John, who has two sons, Zachary and Elijah, through IVF, took offense at the designers', who are gay and were once a couple, skepticism that IVF could lead to a proper family, taking to his Instagram Sunday (March 15) to criticize the two.

"How dare you refer to my beautiful children as 'synthetic.' And shame on you for wagging your judgmental little fingers at IVF — a miracle that has allowed legions of loving people, both straight and gay, to fulfill their dream of having children," he wrote.

Ending his post with a truly classy, but stinging critique: "Your archaic thinking is out of step with the times, just like your fashions. I shall never wear Dolce and Gabbana ever again. #BoycottDolceGabbana."

The designers have since released a statement with Stefano Gabbana saying "it was never our intention to judge other people's choices. We do believe in freedom and love."
