Bruins Assign Zach Trotman To Providence

BOSTON (CBS) - The Boston Bruins have assigned defenseman Zach Trotman to Providence.

Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced the move in a statement Saturday evening.

Trotman was recalled on an emergency basis on Friday but did not play in the Bruins' game against the Penguins in Pittsburgh.

The 24-year-old tallied four assists in 17 NHL games this season. He also appeared in two games for Boston last season.

He made his NHL debut against the Ottawa Senators on Dec. 28, 2013.

The 6-foot-3, 219-pound Indiana native was drafted in the seventh round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

In 35 games for the Providence Bruins, Trotman scored two goals, collected 10 assists and 25 penalty minutes. Between 2011 and 2015, he appeared in 145 games for the American Hockey League squad, tallying 13 goals and 42 assists.
