TD Garden Stabbing Suspect Arraigned

BOSTON (CBS) – The man arrested for a stabbing inside TD Garden game appeared in court on Friday and denied the his role in the incident.

Video showed a fight that broke out in Section 311 of TD Garden during the Celtics game on Wednesday. Boston Police said they believe the suspect used a box cutter to stab another man, who suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Brandon Jones, 20, of Braintree, was arrested on Thursday and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Jones was arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on Friday. While in court, he denied his role in the stabbing.

WBZ-TV's Susie Steimle reported that Jones has a lengthy criminal record, including an assault conviction in 2003 when he was 8 years old.

Prosecutors said "the video clearly shows he's the aggressor in the fight."

The Braintree resident was ordered held on $50,000 cash bail for the TD Garden stabbing.

Jones' open bail on two unrelated cases out of Quincy District Court was revoked, according to Suffolk County District Attorney's office.

A judge ordered Jones held without bail pending a probation surrender hearing on a case out of Quincy.

Two of Jones' friends were in the courtroom to support him during his arraignment. They said he is "a good kid" and added that they believe he was not involved in the stabbing.

"He didn't do this," a male friend said. "And they ain't gunna find him guilty. And if they do then there's corruption of justice 100 percent."

He is next scheduled to appear in court for the TD Garden stabbing on April 14.
