MIT Imagines Acceptance Letters Delivered By Drone

CAMBRIDGE (CBS) -- The Massachusetts Institute of Technology has a well-earned reputation for being inventive, but this takes it to a whole new level.

The school is imagining what it would be like to deliver acceptance letters to prospective students by drone. The admissions department posted a video recently, simulating the experience of small drones flying over landmarks like the Grand Canyon to the Taj Mahal to bring the good news to applicants.

The technology isn't feasible quite yet for the Class of 2019, but MIT's actual plan is pretty neat, too.

Applicants will be notified if they got in on PI Day – March 14.

The notice will be posted online at 9:26 a.m.

That sequence of numbers matches PI to eight digits, 3.1415926.
