In addition, Boston police said a large gang mural was seen in the apartment.

Harrison was arrested on Wednesday, charged with assault with intent to murder, aggravated assault and battery and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Investigators say Harrison ran a marijuana distribution business and had enlisted the help of a teenager, but a dispute arose between the pair.

Police said following the argument, Harrison pointed a handgun at the teenager's head and fired.

The boy was transported to Boston Medical Center and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Boston's Mayor Marty Walsh said news of Harrison's arrest was "troubling."

"We're talking about some of the most vulnerable kids in our system, in our high schools, and having somebody who's supposed to be a mentor to them," said Walsh.

"What's even more sad is this person had a history of doing very good things in Boston, back 15, 20 years ago," he said.
