Police Arrest Man Who Entered Franklin School Unauthorized

FRANKLIN (CBS) - Police arrested a man who entered a Franklin school unauthorized on Monday.

Christopher Pratt, 27, of Franklin, has been charged with trespassing and disturbing a school assembly.

School administrators learned that a man had been allowed into Parmenter Elementary School. He was buzzed in by a parent or administrator, who thought he had business in the school.

However, Pratt allegedly didn't sign in and access a visitor badge.

Moments later, three school staff members found Pratt and escorted him out of the building.

He didn't pose a threat and left the building willingly, police say.

It's also unclear why the suspect entered the building.

Immediately following the incident, all schools were notified but a lock down was not ordered due to no threat having been made.

A letter went out to parents in nearby King Philip Regional School District, saying that the same man may have walked into a middle school on Tuesday.

A parent meeting was held Tuesday by school and police officials to inform parents of the situation.

All school principals will be conducting reviews of safety protocols with staff with regard to all individuals looking to enter a school. They will also be discussing school safety at the next Parent Communication Council session at their schools.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.

Pratt will be arraigned Thursday in Wrentham District Court.
