Passenger Dies In Car Rollover; Driver Tried To Avoid Snow

NEW BEDFORD (AP) — State police say a woman has died after being ejected from a car that overturned while the driver was trying to avoid snow in the roadway.

Police said the crash occurred at about 7 a.m. Sunday on Route 18 near Elm Street in New Bedford.

Twenty-two-year-old Theresa Suprenant of New Bedford died at the scene of her injuries.

Police said a 19-year-old New Bedford woman was driving eh 1998 Jeep Cherokee when she swerved to avoid snow. She was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with minor injuries.

Police said no charges have been filed. The accident remains under investigation.
