Last Call: Forum Bar And Restaurant Closing Sunday

BOSTON (CBS) - Forum Bar and Restaurant became a fixture on Boylston Street and symbolized what it meant to come back after the Boston Marathon bombings, stronger than ever.

"I walked by and I said I wanted to come for the last night because I have friends who were here on that day," says Dawn Duggan of Boston.

"Great food. I had a great dinner and I'm sad that it's closing," says Joan Riley of Long Island, New York.

Forum was significantly damaged by the blasts nearly two years ago, and was closed for four months. It was the last of the Boylston businesses to reopen, and few say they saw this coming.

"We just wanted to come give my support. I did run in 2013 and came after they opened after their renovation," says AnnMarie Griffiths.

The restaurant's owner says he simply can't afford the sky high rent, which he claims the landlord nearly tripled this year.

"It's just kinda sad that if their rent increases that much that now they have to go out of business," says Griffiths.

"Just a lot of places dying out in the Boston area that have been around for a while," says Paul Galligan.

Staff from the shuttering business will have opportunities to work at other Boston Nightlife Ventures-owned properties, including The Tap Trailhouse, Wink and Nod, Griddler's Burgers and Dogs, according to a statement on Forum's website.

Despite Forum closing, Boston Nightlife Ventures plans to use their resources at its existing businesses and also future projects.

The business thanked staff and patrons for their support over the years.
