Red Sox Announce Buchholz Will Start vs. Northeastern; Miley Gets Start vs. Boston College

BOSTON (CBS) -- Believe it or not, the Boston Red Sox will be hitting the diamond for their spring slate of games in just a few days.

And we now know who will be toeing the rubber when the season before the season kicks off (via ESPNBoston.com's Gordon Edes).

Clay Buchholz will get the start when Boston opens their spring schedule Tuesday afternoon against the Northeastern Huskies at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, Florida. He's scheduled to pitch an inning, with Rick Porcello then taking over for two innings, followed by lefty reliever Eduardo Rodriguez. A slew of other relievers will follow, including offseason addition Mitchell Boggs.

Newcomer Wade Miley will get the start Tuesday night against Boston College in the second game of the annual double header. After his two innings of work are done, knuckleballer Steven Wright, Craig Breslow, Brandon Workman and others will follow.

Boston will begin their Grapefruit League schedule Thursday night against the Minnesota Twins, with Joe Kelly slated to start. He'll be followed by Matt Barnes and Brian Johnson -- both promising rookies in the Red Sox organization -- with relievers Junichi Tazawa, Edward Mujica, Alexi Ogando, Robbie Ross, Tommy Layne, and Heath Hembree also expected to pitch that evening.
