Daily Talker: Polar Plunge Outrage

A storm of controversy has settled over the Massachusetts town of Wilbraham following an incident at a Polar Plunge charity event last weekend that was sponsored by the Wilbraham Police Department.

During the event Saturday where temperatures reached the low teens, a man appeared to push his dog into the freezing cold water.  The 6 year old Labrador Retriever, who appeared to resist at first, was in the water for a few seconds and was pulled back out.  The dog was later seen playing and is in good health.

A person in attendance posted photos on Facebook, sparking immediate outrage.  On Tuesday, the Wilbraham Police Department said it would look into the incident but believed there was no abuse or mistreatment.

The department interviewed the owner and learned that the dog is an avid swimmer, and often dives in the water when taken ice fishing.

But by Wednesday, the department deleted its Facebook page after it was flooded with outraged posts from people demanding the dog's owner be charged.

It is a story that has a lot of people talking.  What do you think?

Should the dog's owner be charged?
