Wendell Kim, Former Sox Third Base Coach, Dies At 64
BOSTON (CBS) -- Wendell Kim, the former Red Sox third base coach who made a name for himself with his sprints across the diamond, has died.
The San Francisco Chronicle and Chicago Tribune reported that Kim died Sunday at the age of 64.
Kim was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's disease in 2005.
The Hawaii native coached third base for the San Francisco Giants, Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs. He famously sprinted to his position between innings, becoming a fan favorite for doing so, and he earned the nickname "Wave 'em in Wendell" for his aggressive approach to base running.
