Five Quick Takeaways From NYFW So Far

New York Fashion Week is in full effect with plenty of celebrity sightings and style to go around, and while fashion has managed to remain the focal point of NYFW in a time when stunts reign supreme, there are still a few key non-fashion events.

Outside of fashion, there were more than a few other things that have caught everyone's attention this year. From a crying North West to an NBA takeover, here are five things to take away from NYFW so far:

Celebrities Still Own The Front Row

If anything is a sign that you've made it in Hollywood, being front row at NYFW is it. Celebrities are synonymous with high-profile events like NYFW and this year, absolutely nothing has changed. From Beyonce and Jay-Z to Sarah Jessica Parker and Katie Holmes, some of the biggest A-listers took front row and center at big fashion debuts and premieres.

Historic Breakthroughs Happen

This year at NYFW Jamie Brewer became the first model with Downs Syndrome, marking a giant leap for those with the genetic disorder. Brewer's modeling gig also makes the idea of modeling and fashion more attainable for a group of individuals who have faced discrimination in the past. Everyone and anyone is beautiful, and NYFW has made that very clear this year.

Children Don't Belong At Fashion Shows

Let it be known: Fashion shows are for adults and those who possess the ability to conduct themselves in a mature, civilized manner; so everyone except children and babies. It would seem that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West did not get that memo as their baby girl North West threw a crying fit while previewing her father's new fashion collection for Adidas. Much to the dismay of others like Beyonce, Jay-Z, Anna Wintour and Diddy, who were sitting around Kim Kardashian and her daughter. Again, for future reference, no babies allowed at NYFW.

To Be Jenner Is To Be Fashion

It seems like the Kardashian-Jenner family has fallen more and more in line with the fashion industry with each passing year.  This year, the youngest Kardashian/Jenner, Kylie, made her modeling debut at Kanye West's Adidas unveiling; the same one that North West threw her tantrum at. Wearing West's neutral and nude toned garments, Kylie hit the catwalk for the first time.  It's a move that seems to follow in order with her older sister Kendall's modeling career. Maybe one day we'll get to ask, "Who wore it better?"

The NBA Is Taking Over

You read that correctly. The National Basketball Association will be taking over NYFW. Many of this week's fashion shows are almost guaranteed to see an influx in professional basketball players as the NBA takes over NYC the same weekend as NYFW for the NBA All-Star Game. Already, we know that Kanye West performed with Oklahoma City Thunder player Kevin Durant and that LeBron James is organizing a fashion show. Basketball players have been known for their style off-court, so it was only a matter of time before some of that spilled over onto the runway.
