Dozens Evacuated From Rockland Building In Danger Of Roof Collapse

ROCKLAND (CBS) -- More than two dozen employees were evacuated from a medical office building in Rockland after the roof was deemed in "imminent danger" of collapsing, fire officials said.

Ceiling tiles began to pop off and metal beams began bending Tuesday morning because of the snow buildup on the roof.

The building, located at 30 Reservoir Park Drive, houses the South Shore Hospital's Home Care Division, the South Shore Hospital Charitable Foundation and the Friends of South Shore Hospital

The town's building inspector and a structural engineer were on site Tuesday afternoon. Firefighters held off going on top of the roof to remove the snow since the roof may be too weak to hold additional weight.
