Keller @ Large: All Suffering Is Relative

BOSTON (CBS) - OK, this is ridiculous.

It was clear from the reaction to Friday's comments fantasizing about spring and summer that Bostonians have had enough of the late-arriving but totally uncalled-for winter deluge of 2015. And in light of the current ongoing assault by nature, I feel compelled to kick the positive thinking up a notch.

Yes, you waited too long this morning in the bitter cold for a bus or train that was packed when the doors opened, and that's probably what awaits you this afternoon as well.

Wouldn't you love to have a comfy limo at your disposal, like Brian Williams does?

But then you'd be Brian Williams, sitting in that limo contemplating global ridicule and the imminent prospect of losing your $10 million a year job in spectacularly-embarrassing fashion, and knowing that almost no one – including the limo driver – has come to your defense.

All of a sudden that Green Line sardine can doesn't seem so bad, does it?

True, you live in New England, where the winters can trap you in a hellish maze of traffic jams, mega-snow mountains, unshoveled sidewalks and slush. Imagine if you lived in L.A., where it's 70 degrees and sunny today?

But if you did, perhaps you'd be like one of the Kardashians or the Real Housewives, tan, rich and desperately unhappy, and having it all documented by a reality TV crew.

Me, I'd rather be up to my knees in good clean New England slush – in private - than sharing the same pool water with that crowd.

In just weeks from now, all this misery will be a memory, and we'll still be who we are.

All suffering, it seems, is relative.
