Reilly Smith Talks Protein And Squats On Toucher & Rich

BOSTON (CBS) - Bruins forward Reilly Smith called Toucher & Rich Friday morning, and talked about his recent time being spent on the first line, what it's like playing with David Krejci and the progression of rookie first rounder David Pastrnak.

The Bruins have back-to-back games this weekend starting on Saturday with their home contest against the Islanders, followed by a Sunday night showdown with longtime rival Montreal.

Smith talked about the challenges of playing a back-to-back, adding they're just trying to take it one game at a time and not overlook New York in the process.

Midway through the interview, Fred Toucher changed topics completely and it caught Smith off guard.

Fred: "How much you bench?"

(long pause)

Reilly Smith: "How much do I bench?"

Fred: "I don't want to intimidate you, but they put the two 45's on the bar. I go to this gym because I've got sciatica on account of being fat. I go to this trainer and he puts the two 45's on the bar, and I'm lifting that like it's nobody's business. When you're on the bench, what are we talking about there?"

Smith: "Uhh . . . between 235 and 255 [pounds]."

Fred: "I don't care for that.  How much we deadlifting?"

Smith: "It depends how many you're doing. Usually you're doing 8-10 reps. Somewhere around three or four hundred."

Fred: "How much you squatting? See that's the thing, you can probably squat like a million pounds because you're a hockey player."

Smith: "This is like a summer workout program I'm going through right now. I don't know about squatting. I'm built more like a soccer player than a hockey player."

Rich: "Let's talk supplements, bro. What kind of shakes you making?"

Smith: "Honestly I feel like I'm at GNC right now."

It goes completely off the rails from there, but very very funny.
