Zolak On Patriots Super Bowl Win: Massive [Bleep] You To The Doubters

BOSTON (CBS) - Patriots color analyst and 98.5 The Sports Hub midday host Scott Zolak has been awake for over 24 hours, so excited from the Patriots Super Bowl victory that he called Toucher & Rich not once, but twice Monday morning.

"I'm just watching the replay on NFL Network, man. I can't go to bed," said Zolak. "I'm a machine."

Zolak was at the Patriots party last night after the win, which included Pitbull, Flo Rida, Rick Ross and dozens of ecstatic players, coaches and support staffers.

"It was one of those nights where everybody was like like, 'Wow. Can't believe that happened.' It was just so surreal," said Zolak.

Tom Brady now has four Super Bowl rings and three Super Bowl MVP trophies, both marks tying him with his boyhood idol Joe Montana. And Bill Belichick is now tied with Chuck Noll for the most Super Bowl wins (4) by a head coach.

However, as Zolak states, this fourth Lombardi trophy is more than just the solidification of legacies.

"I think this was just a massive bleep you, screw you to anybody that doubted this team for the last two weeks," Zolak said of DeflateGate which, we're now finding out, is really much ado about nothing.

"I saw Julian Edelman [last night] and he was basically in tears. He can't move at the end of the game. That kid is a warrior. I don't know know they win that game without [Danny] Amendola and Edelman on some of those final drives. They made some massive catches. Julian was screaming that everybody doubted 'em. [Trent] Dilfer's name was brought up.  Mark Brunell crying for whatever reason [on ESPN]. The [Chris] Mortensen report, just the non-factual stuff and the way that this National Football League is reported on, these guys were pretty upset. I think they were upset as an organization, from all the way up top to the bottom guy on the totem pole."

Team owner Robert Kraft didn't mince words when he defended his coach and quarterback a week ago in Arizona, saying the NFL should apologize to them for dragging their names through the mud in the deflated football drama.

For Patriots fans it's hard to compare titles, but as Kraft delivered to the world on the postgame podium, this championship feels as good as the first one with everything that's gone on in recent weeks.

"Kraft kept saying, 'I'm just so happy for my coach and my quarterback.' There were beat writers calling for Belichick's head, and Kraft's got to go medieval on him, and he's had their backs since day one. He's believed in them; I think he feels vindicated. He's just happy for the quarterback with everything he's been through, for him to have a full circle and go 10 years since he won his last," Zolak told Toucher & Rich.

"The way that undefeated season ended seven years ago in Arizona, and they were able to cap it off. It was just a hell of a night."
