Phantom Gourmet: Estoril In Fall River

FALL RIVER (CBS) -- A good restaurant can make you feel like you're dining with family.

"Everything was good? Did you guys like that? Does anyone need me to bring them anything while I'm here? Did you guys enjoy your dinner tonight?"

And at Estoril in Fall River, Nancy Moniz and her family have created a restaurant that feels like an extension of their home.

"We're not just a restaurant. We actually get to know our customers..."I'm Fancy Nancy. I'm Jerry. Our customers become our friends," Moniz said. "'Well I hope that you guys come back. I'll remember you guys. I usually remember everybody.' And they in turn bring their own family and friends."

And while Nancy is taking care of everything in the dining room, her father Abel is back in the kitchen cooking the hearty, homestyle Portuguese cuisine of his homeland.

"He's just this low key kind of guy who has this passion for cooking so when he cooks he really cooks with love and it really does come from the heart, and it shows," Moniz said.

Especially in dishes like Shrimp Mozambique, Spicy Calamari, Fisherman's Pie, and Portuguese Steak. . . all ably prepared by Able himself.

"We have so many customers that come in and they'll be like is the chef in tonight and I say the chef's always here," Moniz said.

And best of all, not only are the plates loaded with flavor. . . they're overloaded with food.

"Part of the Portuguese culture is that you don't leave hungry and that you've got tons of food," Moniz said. "I mean almost definitely you'll bring something home which people get excited about. They get to have leftovers and that gets them craving to come back for more."
