Blizzard Of 2015 Flooding Forces Scituate Evacuations, Breaches Seawall
SCITUATE (CBS) -- Flooding caused by the Blizzard of 2015 forced evacuations in Scituate Tuesday as conditions deteriorated.
Town administrators said they received increased requests for evacuations at about 3:45 a.m. due to the flooding, high winds, blowing snow drifts and white-out conditions. The town declared a state of emergency at 4:55 a.m.
On Tuesday afternoon, a 22-foot section of seawall at 6 Oceanside Ave. was breached, officials said. It will increase water flow to the area, but residents are not at any additional risk.
Town Administrator Patricia A. Vinchesi said a vehicle had washed away on Edward Foster Road and was floating downtown. A downtown resident was also being evacuated because a wave came through their front door, she said.
"The most important thing right now is that we have severe flooding in downtown Scituate," Vinchesi told WBZ-TV.

Central Avenue in Humarock was impassable due to four feet of water, she said. Front Street and Cole Parking also had four feet of water.
The town said there were isolated power outages reported due to downed trees.
Officials are asking residents to stay inside Tuesday morning and say the afternoon tide could bring more flooding.
