Phantom Gourmet: Daddy Jones In Somerville

BOSTON (CBS) -- There's a restaurant in Somerville where customers play with retro toys, liquor bottles are kept in a old fashioned gym locker and the dining room is a certified hipster hangout.

And while the food may be Greek, this definitely ain't your daddy's Greek restaurant. This is Daddy Jones. Located in Magoun Square, Daddy Jones is brainchild of Somerville native Dimitra Murphy.

She opened this quirky, comfortable restaurant and bar to serve the foods she grew up on, with a side of nostalgia.

"We just want people to have fun. When you go to a bar you're supposed to have fun. We have incorporated things that our guests find fun and that we find fun too," Murphy said.

And while the toys will keep you busy, the food will certainly leave you satisfied. Whether you're in the mood for traditional Greek cuisine like a Meze Platter or a Grilled Sausage Sandwich. . . or a bit of classic American comfort food like a Burger or Mac and Cheese. . .Daddy Jones has got you covered.

"You don't have to eat Greek food, but you can if you want to," Murphy said. "And I feel like there's a lot of Greek places that are very stereotypical, blue and white, kind of outdated, and I wanted people to be able to get Greek food in a comfortable modern setting so that it also feels a little more accessible."
