Tire Crashes Through Windshield On Mass. Pike

WESTON (CBS) – A Dudley man was seriously injured when a tire and rim struck his car's windshield on the Mass. Pike Thursday night.

State Police say 23-year-old old Joel Tangjerd of Ontario, Canada was traveling eastbound on the Pike in Wayland when his left rear tire and rim came off the vehicle and traveled across the median into the westbound lanes.

The tire struck the windshield of a 2002 Honda Accord being driven by 36-year-old Paul Robillard of Dudley.

Robillard was transported to Beth Israel Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

Tangjerd was not injured.

The crash is under investigation and no charges have been filed.
