Bruins Mourning Death Of 'Legendary Voice' Bob Wilson

BOSTON (CBS) – The Boston Bruins organization is mourning the death of Bob Wilson, who for decades was the radio voice of the black and gold.

Former play-by-play announcer Bob Wilson died this week, according to multiple reports.

Wilson was behind the microphone calling Bruins games for more than 20 years until he retired in 1994.

On Twitter, Dave Goucher, 98.5 The Sports Hub's play-by-play announcer for the Bruins called Wilson "the one and only radio voice of the Bruins."

Bruins president Cam Neely issued a statement Saturday, saying Wilson was an iconic voice.

"On behalf of the Boston Bruins organization, we are saddened to learn of the passing of Bob Wilson. For a generation of New England hockey fans, Bob's legendary voice was synonymous with the Bruins and he will always be a part of our club's history. Our thoughts are with Nancy and their children during this difficult time," Neely said.
