Rich Shertenlieb Shares Letter Chuck Pagano Sent Him During Wife Mary's Cancer Treatment

BOSTON (CBS) - Everyone in Boston and the surrounding New England area is rooting against the Colts this weekend, but that doesn't mean the head coach isn't a great man.

You may remember a few years back when Colts head coach Chuck Pagano was diagnosed with leukemia, and his team, the city of Indianapolis and the entire country rallied behind the man in support. #ChuckStrong was the motto, and his unwavering fight was an inspiration to everyone.

Shortly afterwards, the family of 98.5 The Sports Hub's Rich Shertenlieb was thrown into disarray when his wife Mary was also diagnosed with leukemia.

It was a tough time for Rich, his family, friends, everyone at the Sports Hub and listeners of the show.

The NFL Network's Albert Breer happened to be in Indianapolis at the time covering a game, and he reached out to Pagano to tell him about Rich and Mary.

Unbeknownst to Rich, an email showed up in his inbox a few days later from the Colts head coach.

With the Colts traveling to Foxboro this weekend to face New England in the AFC Championship game, and his wife Mary healthy again, Rich felt it'd be a good time to read the letter Pagano sent him on-air.

"Chuck Pagano is going to be someone who, without speaking in hyperbole, is someone that I'm never going to forget what he's done for me and my family," Rich said Friday morning.

Listen below to hear the letter:
