Man Charged With Murder In Fall River New Year's Shooting

FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) — A 24-year-old Fall River man has been charged with murder in the New Year's Day killing of another man in the city.

District Attorney Tom Quinn and Fall River Police Chief Daniel Racine announced the upgraded charge against Jeffrey Souza on Monday.

Souza has been held on an illegal firearms charge in connection with the fatal shooting of 28-year-old Kyle Brady.

Souza was arrested Saturday by police in Newport, Rhode Island. He will be arraigned Tuesday in Fall River District Court.

Police responding to a report of a shooting found Brady dead in the street at the intersection of Albert and Huard streets just after 1 a.m. on Jan. 1.
