Ashland Police Save Dog From Icy Waters

ASHLAND (CBS) -- Ashland Police came to the rescue of a dog that had fallen through the ice into a reservoir and was struggling to stay above water.

Four police officers responded to the reservoir in the Ashland State Park Sunday afternoon where the dog, Murphy, was in the water. Police also saw his owner lying on thin ice trying to pull him out.

The officers helped the owner off of the ice. One of the officers threw a rope to Murphy who was able to bite it and be pulled to safety.

The incident, "serves to highlight the extreme dangers of icy lakes and ponds this time of year," Ashland Police wrote on their Facebook page.
