Nashua Mother Charged With Murder Of 3-Year-Old Daughter

NASHUA, N.H. (CBS) – A New Hampshire mother was arrested related to the November death of her three-year-old daughter.

New Hampshire Attorney General Joseph A. Foster and Nashua Police Chief Andrew Lavoie said on Saturday that Katlyn Marin, 25, formerly of 14 Oak Street, Nashua, N.H., was arrested and charged with recklessly causing the death of her daughter Brielle Gage.

Gage was found dead inside the Oak Street home on November 25, and about two weeks later Foster announced that her death was ruled a homicide with a cause of death of blunt force trauma.

Marin is charged with second-degree murder for showing what investigators called "an extreme indifference to the value of human life, by assaulting Brielle multiple times."

The assaults took place on or around November 24 through November 25, police said.

Gage's paternal grandmother, Sharon Boucher, created a memorial page on Facebook after the toddler was killed.

On Saturday, Boucher posted on the page that she is "relieved" after Marin's arrest. Boucher added that she hopes to bring awareness to the issue of child abuse, adding that "the court system failed my granddaughter."

"No family should ever have to suffer the pain we are feeling," Boucher wrote.

Marin is scheduled to be arraigned Monday at 8:15 a.m. in the 9th Circuit District Division Court in Nashua.
