Felger & Mazz: Seguin Trade Coming Back To Bite Bruins

BOSTON (CBS) - The Bruins lost for the sixth time in seven games Tuesday night in Nashville, and it marked the eighth time in 10 straight matchups they've failed to score more than two goals.

Meanwhile, former Bruin and current Dallas Star Tyler Seguin -- someone capable of providing the B's with some offense -- is leading the league in points and goals.

98.5 The Sports Hub's Mike Felger and Tony Massarotti began Wednesday's show in a very sour mood talking about the Bruins, and wondered how a Presidents' Trophy-winning team could fall so far so fast.

Tony Mazz in particular was very upset.

"The Bruins are now in a bit of a bind because they don't have a young, dynamic player. They're trying to trade for Taylor Hall, who was drafted [in 2010] with the no. 1 overall pick -- who went second? Who went second in that draft? This is what's irritating me about this whole thing now: you had the guy! You had him!" Mazz said, referring to Tyler Seguin.

"That was the beauty of having the no. 2 pick! You had the luxury of competing in the present, and draft like one of the have-nots of the league! [The Seguin trade] has come back to bite them in the ass, because the guys they got in return in that deal are not good enough," added Mazz. "They got four players for one, meanwhile Seguin is lighting it up. Are you better off with Seguin or the guys that you got?"

For clarification sake, on July 4, 2013 the Bruins sent Tyler Seguin and Rich Peverely to Dallas in exchange for Loui Eriksson, Reilly Smith, Joe Morrow and Matt Fraser.

"The trade killed them," added Felger.

"They blew it, and now it's coming back to bite them in the ass," Mazz concluded.

Earlier in the show, Mike and Tony had a discussion about the trade rumors involving Edmonton star Taylor Hall.

Felger thinks something big is coming, and as a Bruins fan hopes that something big is coming, because if a major move isn't made he fears the team is destined for mediocrity for years to come.
