Several Storms To Watch

Yesterday's sunshine is but a distant memory. Clouds have rolled in and will stay in place through the day today.  Despite our overcast skies, temperatures will rise into the low 40s for many communities this afternoon. I do expect a mostly dry day, although as low level moisture continues to increase, some spotty drizzle can't be ruled out especially late in the day.  Scattered showers will develop tonight around midnight as low pressure approaches from the west. We will be on the "warmer" side of the storm meaning we'll see raindrops as opposed to snowflakes this time around.  Many of us will end up with 0.25-0.50" of rain, adding to our December surplus.  Behind the storm center, the sun breaks out as early as midday tomorrow and temps respond by coming well into the 40s…even eclipsing 50 in some towns south of Boston!

Aside from a few flurries mainly north of the AM Pike Wednesday night into early Thursday, high pressure will build in for the end of the week providing us with a cool, dry couple of days.

After that, we turn our attention to the south. A developing storm system will grab moisture from the Gulf of Mexico & try to work its way up the east coast. Right now it looks like the bulk of the storm will stay out to sea…but a tongue of moisture on the northern fringe of this disturbance may be able to organize over us bringing some light snow on Sunday. That would be pretty fitting for the 1st day of winter! Keep in mind there's still plenty of uncertainty this far out...the track and strength of the storm will be critical in determining who sees what.

The jet stream pattern looks like it will remain active through the end of the month, with another storm "opportunity" on Christmas eve.  If the northern & southern streams come together in time, we could be talking about a White Christmas for many…stay tuned!
