Gloucester To Light Lobster Trap Menorah

GLOUCESTER (CBS) -- The nation's only lobster trap menorah will be lit Tuesday night, the first night of Hanukkah, in Gloucester.

The menorah is made of 22 lobster traps and nine buoys that serve as candles, and LED lights. It stands 14 feet high and is 20 feet wide.

The designer said she was inspired by the lobster trap Christmas tree that sits on Main Street in Gloucester.

The lighting will take place at 5:30 p.m. at Temple Avahat Achim on Middle Street.

"Having the menorah on Middle Street, the home of historic houses of worship of many faiths, will add to the holiday spirit in Gloucester," temple president Marilyn Schlein-Kramer said.
