Robi On The Road: Santa Keeps Tabs On Naughty And Nice At Burlington Mall

BURLINGTON (CBS) – 'Twas weeks before Christmas and all through the mall… The kids on Santa's lap all started to bawl.

"We just say they're apprehensive," said Santa Claus from his workshop inside the Burlington Mall.

They don't all have polar meltdowns. Nicholas and Christian, a pair of brothers who visited Santa recently, were happy to see the big guy.

Some children are far from apprehensive to meet Santa.

A young boy named Christian was so excited for his visit with the man in red that he showed off his dance moves.

So what is on children's Christmas lists this year?

Care Bears for a little one, a Bat Bot for another, a toy airplane for a third.

Though WBZ-TV morning anchors Kathryn Hauser and Bree Sison couldn't make it to the mall with Robi, Santa still got his hands on their lists.

Kathryn wants a Kindle, and though Santa said he can't make any promises, he'll do his best.

Bree, meanwhile, may or may not be on the naughty list. But if she found her way onto Santa's nice list, she's hoping for a puppy. Santa, however, said it can be too cold on the sleigh to deliver animals. Sorry, Bree.

WBZ-TV meteorologist Danielle Niles might need a pair of long johns after her recent survival test in the frigid woods.

"Doesn't sound very glamourous to me," Santa said. "But I'll tell you what. I wear them all the time."

So how can a kid try and stay on the nice list?

Some parents say Elf on the Shelf works.

"One little fella, I said 'What's the name of your Elf on the Shelf?' And he said 'Snitch!," Santa said with a laugh.

What about Santa? What does he want this Christmas?

"I would love for everybody in the world to love one another," Santa said.

Including Congress?

"Including Congress," Santa said with a twinkle.

Until then, there is no doubt that the approval ratings for jolly old Saint Nick are sky high.

"Making toys is one thing. But to actually be with children, hold them, get hugs, and have them promise me milk and cookies, that's what makes it worth it," Santa said.
