Bruins Gagne Taking 'Indefinite Leave' To Deal With Ailing Father

BOSTON (CBS) - The hometown hockey team will be without winger Simon Gagne indefinitely.

Gagne, 34, missed Bruins practice on Tuesday, and head coach Claude Julien revealed Wednesday morning to the assembled media that the veteran forward is taking an "indefinite leave."

TVA reporter Renaud Lavoi tweeted out the news that Gagne's father is suffering from an incurable form of cancer.

In hopes of adding a little scoring punch to their lineup, the Bruins signed Gagne in mid-October to a one-year deal. Gagne has seen a lot of time on the team's fourth line, and has tallied three goals and one assist so far in the 2014-15 season.
