One Fund Will Not Accept Donations After December 15

BOSTON (CBS) – The One Fund Boston has announced that it will no longer accept donations after December 15, 2014.

The fund was established to help those most affected by the Boston Marathon bombings. Three people were killed and more than 260 were injured when two bombs exploded at the marathon finish line on April 15, 2013.

Since the tragedy, the fund has distributed nearly $80 million in cash gifts from over 200,000 individuals, businesses and community organizations to over 200 individuals and victims' families.

"As this holiday season draws near we wanted to again thank the thousands of generous donors who helped our community when it needed their support the most," Jim Gallagher, President of the One Fund Boston said in a statement. "Now, after over a year and a half of operations we have completed our task. In this season of hope, it is our wish that a fund of this nature is never needed again."
