Donations Pour In To Replace Stolen Framingham Toys

FRAMINGHAM (CBS) -- Sharon and Tim Gilbert usually play Santa Claus, and this week they were visited by a Grinch and a Christmas elf.

The mother and son are the force behind "Timothy's Toy Box." But on Monday, someone stole 100 presents they collected for children in need, leaving Sharon and Tim unsure about how they would make up the loss.

On Friday, the two were told to come to Framingham City Hall for a surprise. There, Kevin and Brendon Giblin of Brendon Properties presented 'Timothy's Toy Box' with a $2,500 donation.

"We saw your plight on TV the other night and thought you needed a little help," said Kevin Giblin.

Eleven-year-old Tim was speechless.

"I am so shocked," he said.

"We usually have 300 (kids), so this year we'll be closer to 350 or 400 so now we'll be able to help them," said Sharon Gilbert.

Initially, Sharon and Tim did not know how they'd recover from the theft.

Then Tuesday night, Greg Andreson stopped by their house with a carload of toys.

"I heard his story and I just felt so bad, it's getting close to crunch time," said Greg Andreson.

More donations started coming in for the Gilberts after that.

Sharon started 'Timothy's Toy Box' when Tim was 3 years old to teach him good life lessons. This year certainly showed Tim the wonder of Christmas.

"It's amazing," said Tim Gilbert.

'Timothy's Toy Box' is holding a toy drive this Sunday from 10 AM until 2 PM at 4 Anderson Road, Framingham.
