Keller @ Large: National Turkeys Of The Year
BOSTON (CBS) - It's time to celebrate all our favorite Thanksgiving traditions - football, family, the Thanksgiving feast, and don't forget a uniquely local tradition: Jon Keller's annual list of the year's biggest turkeys.
On Tuesday, Keller focused on the turkeys who made national news.
If there's a silver lining to the implosion of LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling, it's the fact that even a super-wealthy cretin can't get away with everything. Sterling's bigotry cost him his team and earned him near-unanimous contempt. Even rich turkeys sometimes get cooked.
For Secret Service director Julia Pierson, her agency's failure to prevent penetration of the White House by an armed man earned her turkey of the year consideration.
But her congressional testimony sealed the deal. The next day, Pierson was leftovers.
No wonder people freaked out over Ebola this fall. After the poor preparation of a Dallas hospital where the first U.S. Ebola death occurred was matched by lame briefings from federal officials.
But the panic, fed by pandering politicians, turned out to be a turkey too, with no further Ebola deaths reported here.
And for a final turkey, let's go overseas to Turkey, where president Recep Tayyip Erdogan isn't just a raging sexist he's emerging as terrorism's best friend, refusing to allow the anti-ISIS coalition to launch military strikes against the extremists on his border.
On Thursday night, Jon Keller reveals his local turkeys of the year.
